Food drippings, stains and grease can quickly turn ovens into an Adelaide culinary crime scene. Let’s be realistic, you cannot keep your Adelaide kitchen’s oven impeccable all the time. You can instantly clean up small messes as they happen. However, ovens will still need deep and thorough cleaning from time to time.
Cleaning ovens can feel like an overwhelming task. Fortunately, it is not as scary as it may seem. It can actually be as simple as pressing a button. Here are a few easy oven cleaning tips:
Use Natural Ingredients
If you prefer to use natural cleaners around your Adelaide house, you can use this safe and simple solution. Mix half a cup of baking soda with water to create a paste. Then, spread the paste all over the oven; the bottom and the side walls. Be careful not to get any paste on the heating elements.
Try to leave the paste for at least twenty minutes. To remove the paste, fill a spray bottle with water and white vinegar. Spray this mix all over the oven. It will cause the baking soda to create a foam that helps loosen any stuck stains. To remove the residue, wipe down the oven with a damp cloth.
Clean Oven Racks in the Bathtub
Oven racks usually have awkward sizes and shapes. That is why they should be cleaned in an ample space outside the oven. You can use the bathtub at your Adelaide home. It is advisable to line your tub with some old towels first, to make sure it will not get scratched.
Soak the racks in boiling water that has a little dishwasher detergent in it. Make sure they are fully submerged. You can leave them for two hours at least or ideally overnight. Afterwards, scrub the racks with an old toothbrush to remove any stuck food debris. Finally, rinse the racks with warm water and dry them, before returning them to the oven.
Glass Oven Doors
Compared to the racks, oven doors need a gentler cleaning approach. Glass is more susceptible to scratches. Therefore, any aggressive scrubbing should be avoided. You can use the natural mix of baking soda and water. Turn it into a thick paste and spread it generously on the glass. After twenty minutes, wipe up the oven door gently with a microfiber cloth and rinse with water. Instead of baking soda, you can also use standard glass cleaners or a bit of diluted vinegar.
Self-Cleaning Ovens
At Adelaide Appliance Gallery, we stock a wide range of pyrolytic ovens. These have a self-cleaning feature. It works by heating the oven to about 500°C. At this temperature, any food or grease inside the oven is incinerated and turned into ash. With just a damp cloth, you can simply wipe out the ash and have a spotless oven at your Adelaide kitchen.
