You asked, we listened. We’re rounding up all of your frequently asked questions that you should ask before buying a dishwasher.
We’ve all been pestered by huge questions before making a big purchase. These questions are almost always laced with worries that often end up giving us headaches. Worry not! The Adelaide Appliance Gallery experts are here to save the day! We’ve compiled ten of our customers’ frequently asked questions and gave our expert answers and advice to each one to help you choose the best dishwasher for your needs.
#1 Is buying a dishwasher worth it?
Our completely unbiased and honest answer to this question is: Yes, and here are a few reasons why it’s worth it:
- It’s convenient.
- It’s time-saving.
- It’s great for people who are always on the go; it’s also great for people with a big family or for an office where washing dishes happens often.
- It also saves on water consumption. Yes, it may be surprising but the numbers show that you actually use less water with a dishwasher than with washing by hand.
#2 Which dishwasher should I buy?
This question is often asked due to the many dishwashers available in the market today. Despite the difficulty of having to choose between all of these available models, you can trim down your choices with the help of our comprehensive buying guide on finding the perfect dishwasher for your Adelaide home.
In our buying guide, we’ve detailed how your budget and your lifestyle can factor in before buying the dishwasher. You can check out our previous post for an in-depth look at each of the factors worth looking at before making the purchase.
#3 Are my kids safe around the dishwasher?
Yes, your children will be safe around a dishwasher. A lot of the models that we have for sale were made child-safe with a safety lock. A product worth noting is the MIELE G 4203 SCI INTEGRATED DISHWASHER which has a child-lock safety feature.
#4 Can I put my pots and pans in the dishwasher?
- Yes, you can. The common pots and pans can be put inside the dishwasher especially if it can fit conveniently. We would suggest that the following types of materials be left out to be washed by hand:
- Non-stick pans as it won’t take much to clean up the pans made from these materials.
- Any cookware made from aluminium, copper, tin, and cast iron as these are considered highly reactive metals
- Some types of plasticwares. Dishwashers use hot water and these may cause your plasticwares to melt or deform.
- Cookware or utensils made from natural materials such as wood (chopsticks don’t go in the dishwasher), bamboo, or clay pots.
#5 Can a dishwasher also wash my spoon, fork, ladles, etc?
Of course, with the exception of any cutleries or utensils made from natural materials such as wood or bamboo (see question #4). Dishwashers have innovated throughout the years. If you’re still living in the 2000s, it’s best to wake up and see for yourself how much the dishwashers have changed since then. Many models have special baskets for your utensils and cutleries to go into. Rest assured that they will be safely cradled inside the machine as they go for a wash.
You can also put your sensitive glassware inside the machine. There are models that have special wine glass racks for this purpose. Do ask our experts for which models have this feature.
#6 Can I clean my dishwasher?
Yes, of course! A machine such as the dishwasher needs to be routinely cleaned to retain its supreme performance. Performing routine cleaning and checks will save you money in the long run. We would like to stress on having your dishwasher’s filters cleaned routinely and be cleaned with the Power of 4 Descaler every 3 to 4 months.
You can also call the help of our experts to perform routine checks for your dishwasher. We will be glad to be with you throughout your dishwasher’s lifecycle from installation to routine maintenance. Our service team is dedicated to be with you every step of the way.
#7 Is a dishwasher environment-friendly?
We read all the materials we could find and took a deep dive into this topic to settle this debate, once and for all. Based on our findings, cleaning the dishes with a dishwasher can be more economical and environmentally-friendly than doing this chore by hand, all thanks to the technological advancements that have happened over the years. Sure it’s cheaper overall to wash several dishes by hand, but, if you’re washing your whole family’s dishes everyday, it might be time to consider getting your very own dishwasher machine.
Also, with the numerous innovations, more brands are making it a point to become environment-friendly in using less water and energy every wash. We have brands that received three stars (and above) in the Star energy rating, as well as in the WELS (Water Efficiency Labelling Scheme) rating.
#8 I want a dishwasher but I don’t have a place to install it. What should I do?
Did you know that not all dishwashers are meant to be integrated in your kitchen? You can go on our website and check out several freestanding options. To start:
- ARTUSI | ADW7002X
- EURO | EDS14PXS
- SIEMENS | SN257I01MA
#9 How long is a dishwasher’s lifespan?
A dishwasher should last about twelve years. This might seem unbelievable, but a good brand such as Miele, can last you that long. Please do note that with all other appliances, if it’s not cared for, it won’t achieve its full average lifespan. Performing routine cleans and checks can help keep your machine in its top shape. Using a specially formulated dishwashing soap.
#10 Can I use normal dishwashing soap? If not, what should I buy?
A dishwashing soap that you use when you’re washing dishes by hand produces a lot of bubbles. If you put this in your dishwasher machine, you might end up with a sudsy floor.
Our expert opinion is to get a specialized dishwashing detergent specifically made for use in a machine. You can pick up some Power of 4 detergent for your dishwasher machine online and in-store.
These are just some of our customers’ frequently asked questions and let us tell you, there are many more! If you do have more questions you can get in touch with our representatives online, through phone, or by simply dropping by our store. Our dishwasher machine experts will be happy to help you out.
