No matter how careful you are, spills and splatters will still end up on your stovetops. The trick is to get these spills immediately.
Otherwise, they will harden on the stovetops and become more challenging to clean. Over time, your stovetops will turn into a visual map of every meal you have cooked.
Stovetops are one of the most transparent surfaces in your kitchen. If they are not cleaned properly, the stovetops can make the whole kitchen look dirty. That is why you need to give your stovetops a complete clean-up from time to time.
Here is how to make your stovetops look sparkly:
Enamel Stove Tops
These types of stovetops are more challenging to clean. Their surfaces are not as smooth as induction stovetops.
Before you start, make sure all burners are off and the stovetop is cool. First, there is the grate. It is the part of the stovetops you put the pots on. You can lift the grates off the stovetops and put them in the sink.
Check your stovetops manual. Some grates can also be cleaned in the dishwasher.
Then, take off the burner caps. These are the removable disks of your stovetops that distribute the flames. Put them also in the sink.
Soak them all in warm soapy water. You can also use a non-abrasive sponge to wash them. Then rinse and dry them off well.
Now, take the burner heads. These are the parts attached to the stovetops. It is where the fire comes from.
Wipe them with a damp cloth. You can also use a toothbrush. To clean the surface of your stove tops, use a wet cloth to wipe them down. For greasy spots, you can use 1:2 vinegar, baking soda mixture. Spread it and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes. Then, gently scrub it off with a soapy sponge.
Glass/Ceramic Stove Tops
With a smooth, flat surface, these stovetops are much easier to clean. Just wipe these stovetops with a damp cloth.
You can also spritz a little bit of vinegar for better results. Just make sure the stovetop is cool before touching it. This should not be a problem with induction stovetops. Their surfaces do not heat up.
